Logo-Type

Logo-type designing is slightly different compared to regular logo designing due to logo-types being comprised of typographic fonts and typeface instead of images. Examples of logo-type are the Google logo and Coca-Cola logo.

Research

The objective of this project was to create a logo-type that would be used in a pre-chosen profession. The profession I chose was locksmithing.

The images I collected for research in this project were selected if they had a simplistic design or if they creatively incorporated keys and locks into their design.

Ideas & Sketches

The notes and ideas I generated were slight recreations based on the research I did as well as two general ideas I came up with on the spot. The two general ideas were the ones I personally chose to work on digitally as they seemed to be the most customisable in my opinion.

Final Designs

The digital versions of the two designs I decided to use both have different iterations where further features were added, such as a 3D effect. My favourite is the 3D effect key design due to the different shades used to create the effect and generally how satisfying it was to make. Similar traits were used between both designs including the typeface and colour. The colour was kept as shades of black and grey due to this being very easy to interpret into any other colour scheme. This would be done by converting the black to darker colours compared to grey. The typeface was kept the same due to it suiting the style I was going for and anything different wouldn’t have worked as well in my opinion.
